CT Bail Bonds | 860-SET-FREE (738-3733)

Who doesn’t love to know all about celebrities and their issues? Even if you aren’t into all of the craziness surrounding celebrity lives, it is interesting to see that they aren’t treated any differently when it comes to crimes (at least most of them), they just have an easier time paying their way out of jail and into the public eye again.

Max B. – Rapper – Harlem, NY

Max B. received a whopping $2 million bail price when he was accused of conspiring to and the killing of 2 people in New York. Murder bails are typically $1 million a piece, so this is nothing out of the ordinary. He is now serving 75 years, but was released when he posted bail and allowed to walk free for three years during his trial.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn – Politician

This sleaze was accused of prostitution and got out of spending any time in jail by paying the $6 million bail price up front. Additionally, Bernard Madoff and Dennis Kozloski each paid $10 million, so they could continue to conduct business as usual.

Justin Beiber – Singer

Bieber was arrested in January of 2014 for driving and drag racing under the influence of alcohol. His bail was set at only $2,500, a mere drop in the bucket for such a well known man.

Lindsey Lohan – Actress/Singer

Lohan has been to jail a number of times since her drug abuse came into the public spotlight in early 2007. Arrests include DUIs, reckless driving, theft, falsifying information, and fighting in a nightclub. Her bail was set to $300,000, she paid $75,000 with the help of a bail bondsman.

O.J. Simpson – Football Player/Actor

Perhaps the most famous trial of all time, before the turn of the century, O.J. was arrested  for allegedly killing Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. This double murder was set without bail. In 1995 he was acquitted of both occurrences and ordered to pay for the wrongful deaths. Later, in 2007, he was arrested again for robbery and kidnapping. The bond for these occurrences was set to $250,000.

Phil Spector – Record Producer

Phil Spector was arrested in 2003 for the murder of popular hollywood actress, Lana Clarkson. Spector was found in the home when police arrived and when asked to show his hands, a fight ensued. He was later charged with the death and bail was set for $1 million, which he paid and then remained a free man for 9 years until his conviction in 2009, in which he was charged for 2nd degree murder and illegally discharging a firearm. He received 19 years to life in prison.

Aaron Hernandez- Former New England Patriot

Hernandez was indicted in 2012 by a grand jury in CT for the murder of two men, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu. Hernandez was already in police custody for the unrelated murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player, for which he pleaded not guilty. Evidence was circumstantial at best. No bail was granted.  However, he would certainly have been searching for a CT Bail Bond if it was allowed.

Oscar Pistorius -Double-Amputee Olympian – AKA – Blade Runner

The only one on the list from outside of the U.S. – this celebrity was treated a little bit different in his native South African country when he admitted to accidentally killing his girlfriend, when he shot and killed her, thinking she was an intruder in his home.  Pistorius was given the highest bail sentence allowed by South African law. In South Africa, this means that his defendant have to give exceptional testimony as to why he should be free before his trial. He was also required to give up both of his South African passports and his guns and pay nearly $12,000 and prove that he has another $988,700, to pay the rest of his bond if necessary.

Marion Hugh “Suge” Knight, Jr. – Record Producer, Former CEO of Death Row Records

Suge Knight was recently arrested and charged with hitting and killing a man, believed to be his friend, with a pickup truck and fleeing the scene. He says it was an accident; however, the incident occurred after a fight between Suge and the two victims, one of whom was severely injured, but remains alive. Witnesses, including the injured man, said it seemed like an intentional act. Knight is being held on $2 million bail.

As you can see, celebrities, may get out a little easier than the average Joe, but many of them still have to pay the fees and suffer the consequences of their wrong doings.
